Martin Luther King III and Arndrea Waters King released the following statement on the two-year anniversary of the October 7 attacks:
Since the atrocities of October 7, 2023, the war in Gaza has metastasized across the region.
Tens of thousands of innocent civilians—mostly women and children—have been killed. Hundreds of thousands of Palestinians have been forcibly displaced, their lives and livelihoods destroyed. Families in Israel whose loved ones were murdered or taken hostage have continued to endure unimaginable pain.
And yet this war continues to rage, fueled by the fires of retribution and generational hatred.
As we mark two years of this brutal and horrific conflict, we pray for peace that transcends borders and cultures. We pray for peace that leads to a permanent ceasefire and the release of every hostage. We pray for peace that affirms the humanity of Palestinians and Israelis.
