Martin Luther King III and Arndrea Waters King released the following statement on the passing of Lisa Young Alston:
We were deeply saddened by the passing of Lisa Young Alston. As children of the Civil Rights Movement, there were spoken and unspoken bonds that sustained & encouraged us over the years. Her life was truly a testament to the values of love and service. Our hearts go out to Ambassador Andrew Young, Chair Emeritus of the Drum Major Institute and the entire Young family, especially Lisa’s husband, Douglass, and two children. We pray they find comfort in her impact on Atlanta and the nation.
