Martin Luther King III and Arndrea Waters King released the following statement on the horrific attacks in Providence and Sydney:
Arndrea and I are heartbroken by the news from this weekend. We’ve witnessed a mass shooting at Brown University in Rhode Island and an antisemitic terrorist attack in Australia.
This senseless brutality is shocking, but it hasn’t come out of nowhere. It has come from a culture that places outrage and hatred over human life, all fine-tuned by social media algorithms and supercharged by gun violence.
Now more than ever, we must confront this culture with radical love. We cannot and must not be consumed by the rising tide of darkness. We must stand firm in our convictions: peace, justice & equity.
This holiday season, we pray for transcendent peace that lights the path forward. From Providence to Sydney, we pray for unconditional love.
